01.15 James D Eltmann, Germany “One of the best Hotels I have stayed in.”
I was here on a business trip…(and) I must say this was more than I expected. Great service, very clean rooms, great staff, (keep up the great work). This a Hotel…where you get more for (your) money. Super Location, easy walk to the beach and store.
01.02. 2015 tropicsbeachfan Lorain, Ohio “Comfortable, Quiet, Classy and Affordable”
…we had a great time at this small, well-managed…hotel in the L'Orient neighborhood on St. Barth. Here, it is easy to sleep on the large, comfortable bed in your spotless, quiet room with all the amenities. The pool area is small, but has a classy plunge pool and attractive wood decking. Eula, the manager, is friendly and talkative, and she always has spot-on advice about the best restaurants and beaches on the island. The Continental breakfast…and the glass of French wine served gratis at the daily happy hour are nice touches. Well-located in a quiet neighborhood, this charming little hotel is only a two-block walk to a beautiful small beach….I will definitely stay here again when I return to enchanting St. Barth.
11.24.14 Jake D “Catacup2014” Great little place… super nice staff…really went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Absolutely would come back.
11.23.14 Willie787 Austin, Texas “Perfect!”
…The Normandie Hotel was perfect for me: quiet…removed from the crowds, very reasonably priced…very nice, clean room with elegant bathroom… Manager, Eula, truly makes you feel like you're home with family. It is definitely my new home away from home while on St Barths!
11.22.14 Nick R Cincinnati, Ohio “A Charming Hotel at a Reasonable Price” …The hotel was even more charming on this second visit. (The) Normandie is located in the small village of Lorient and is just a three-minute walk from Lorient Beach, two small grocery stores, and a local restaurant….five-minute drive or less from several beautiful beaches, including Saline, Gouverneur, and St. Jean. Eula and her assistant, Cristina, are wonderful hosts who make you feel very welcome throughout your visit. The rooms are comfortable and clean. The small pool is private and perfect for a dip at any hour. The delicious continental breakfast has a real European flavor. All of this combined with Normandie's reasonable price makes it a great value. St. Barth is an expensive island and the hotel's affordability makes it possible for us to stay for a week. We're already planning our third trip to St. Barth and we look forward to staying at Normandie Hotel once again!
11.10.14 Peter H Antwerp, Belgium “Very good stay!” The Normandie offers you a cozy and peaceful stay. The location is excellent to explore St. Barts. The beach is just a five minute walk away, and…St. Jean just five minutes by car. Parking was never a problem. The hotel has a modern but cozy interior, the pool is small but perfect to refresh yourself. The owner and staff were very attent(ive and) will help you in any way. Totally recommended!
08.27.14 Nicholas S Basseterre, St. Kitts “Excellent choice for St Bart's” The Normandie was a great choice…and we were pleasantly surprised. The hotel is modern, super clean and well appointed. The rooms had plenty of space and the bathrooms were nicely done. Showers were great! Breakfast was really nice …with fresh pastries. You feel really secluded with all the landscaping around the pool. It was very quiet most days and nights. Reading by the pool was great…staff were really wonderful and made us feel right at home. (with) suggestions on things to do and places to go and eat. The beach (really beautiful) was two blocks from the hotel and there is a supermarket, bakery and…great burger joint within close walking distance. If you like to surf you can rent Boards from David at Reefers Surf club at Anse de Orient beach. Everything seemed to be a ten minute drive from the hotel also which made for a good central headquarters. Would highly recommend Normandie to anyone looking to stay in the heart of St Bart's. We are already planning our next stay there! Room Tip: We had room 3: it was quiet and close to the pool.
08.27.14 Olimpiusek1 Washington, D.C. “AMAZING!!!”… EVERYTHING was just excellent ! Eula the (manager)…answered every email and had so much patience…. Place itself is very cute and cozy also VERY clean and modern! Loved the pool you can just sit there forever with your drink and just enjoy the evening! I rented a car from the hotel and was such a smooth experience ! They will pick you up from the airport/ferry…. Very honest and friendly…people!!!…a wonderful experience and i will be back soon…Thank you Eula and Cristina for everything…. Ania
08.14 ihatescreennames97 New Castle, PA “Such a great place!” So grateful for this hotel - I would never have been able to afford the trip to Saint Barths without this reasonably priced, high quality hotel. The Normandie is located close to one of my favorite beaches on the island, Lorient (where) the snorkeling…is amazing!…The bakery and grocery store are just a few steps away, so it's easy to keep the trip under budget. The hotel itself is wonderful. It's very, very clean and extremely comfortable and quiet…I appreciated the air conditioned oasis and the lounge chairs in the shade of the palm trees in the pool area. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, and I felt right at home here. They were so nice and made my trip easy and hassle free. And I loved the complimentary breakfast in the morning. I give Hotel Normandie my highest recommendation. I love this place, and I hope I make it back here again someday!
07.02.14 LenoreW777 Toronto, Canada “Island's little gem” We just returned from one week in St. Barth staying at The Normandie Hotel. What a gem. The hotel is perfect if you are looking for friendly, exceptionally helpful staff, lovely and clean, ideal location as well as very reasonable rates. The rooms had brand new mattresses…very comfortable to sleep in, as well as great AC. We walked down the street every morning to stroll the beach and go for a peaceful swim and pretend we were locals. Afterwards a sweet continental breakfast back at the hotel then off to all the popular beaches for sun and sand. The hotel manager Eula is a very hard working and caring person who made us feel very welcome. We felt very lucky to have found this special place…great wifi…The Normandie Hotel is a great choice!!! We LOVED it.
06.24.14 Paula C Lisbon, Portugal “Excellent Place” Excellent hotel…in St Barth's…The rooms are impeccable and beautiful, the service is perfect and the staff is very nice and professional…it is as if we were among friends. I highly recommend it!
05.22.14 V S West Palm Beach, FL “Simply wonderful” I have been to St. Barth 10 times and stayed there throughout the years at all kinds of luxury hotels, private villas and other less expensive places. I came to realize that St. Barth is all about exploring the beaches, fine or fun French dining and shopping. You do not stay at the hotel that much, but you want to come back to a clean, nice, friendly and comfortable place. If such a place doesn't make a big dent in your entertainment budget, even better! Normandie hotel is all that and more.
This was my first time at Normandie Hotel but I am sure not the last one! The hotel is cute, modern and clean, the staff is extremely personable and helpful. It felt like home. My favorite things about this place are:
- breakfast outside on the terrace around the pool and tropical trees
- an afternoon free glass of wine and talking to lovely Eula (the heart and soul of this place aka the hotel manager)
- intimate, welcoming size of this boutique hotel
- relaxing around the illuminated pool at night
- clean, modern rooms
All in all it was an excellent experience that I am eager to repeat soon.
03.23.14 Steve M Larchmont, NY “Hotel Normandie is EXCELLENT!!” Just back from a 5 night get-away to St Barth's and loved the Hotel Normandie!…Very nice small, quaint Inn in Lorient. Very convenient to everywhere on the island. Great room. Nice bedding. AC worked great. Ambience was above expectations and we had a great time. Hotel manager, Eula, is a fountain of knowledge around the island and never steered us wrong. No reasonable request (and even a few unreasonable ones)…ever denied. She's a GREAT hostess. We've stayed all around the world and will definitely be back. Great for couples, but probably works for a family as well. We had a GREAT time at the Normandie!! It's not the Eden Rock, but we had an extra 1,000€/day to play with and thought the inn was a great value…
02.19.14 Fliesin Chertsey, UK “Paradise” Thank you for making my visit to the island such an unforgettable experience. This boutique hotel is remarkable for price and service. I cannot recommend this hotel enough. Perfectly located, friendly staff, I am looking forward to coming back.
01.31.14 TEberly Minneapolis, MN “Great place for the price” We stayed here for 3 nights at the end of our trip. The nautical theme of the Normandie applies to the size of the rooms, they are modest but nice. If you want more room on St. Barts, you definitely will pay more.
The location is great. I walked to the bakery every morning for breakfast and then ate…while walking the beach. The pool is very nice, too. I did some work by the pool one day. Eula is the best. If you need something, just ask…
01.30.14 Ana J New York, NY “Wonderful little Gem!” I stayed at Normandie for a week in January and I had an absolutely amazing time! Both Eula and Christina are amazing hosts, and this place definitely adds to the whole beautiful experience of this charming island. The hotel is very clean and provides all the basic amenities one can need. Also, one of the most beautiful beaches, Lorient, is only steps away! This will definitely be my to-go spot in the future, hopefully for many years to come :) Keep up the good work!
01.29.14 Girlfromisleworth Boston, MA “Wonderful hotel!” This was my second stay at the Normandie Hotel and, hard to believe, it was even better than the first. Eula, the hotel director, is expert at keeping this beautiful, small hotel running incredibly smoothly, spotlessly clean, and fun to be in – no small feat in the Caribbean. Jomanie, the very efficient housekeeper, is always smiling and so pleasant. And Christina very kindly helped me when my flight was cancelled due to snow. The location, down the street from L'Orient beach, is perfect for relaxing and absorbing the island atmosphere. And the hotel is simple and beautifully appointed, with everything one needs. And a good value. Many thanks to all for your warmth, hospitality and good advice. Hope to have many more stays with you.
01.18.14 BobtoBarbados Bend, OR “Comfortable, convenient and NOT very costly!” I found Normandie Hotel online and welcomed the size (eight rooms) and private setting. Eula was very prompt and helpful with my reservations, as well as during my stay…as was Cristina. Normandie is a wonderful private setting, "mid-island", a short walk from the beach, and with several restaurants nearby. I'd recommend a car rental to explore the whole island further, and there is easy parking on the street adjacent to the hotel. There is a complimentary 5:00 pm "wine social,' to meet other guests (it's not that big with only eight rooms) and talk more with Eula and Cristina. A continental breakfast is available between 7:00 and 10:00. I highly recommend this clean, comfortable and conveniently located hotel and for the price it compares VERY favorably with anything else on the island. Great for solo travelors or couples wanting a bit of privacy and an "easy stay."
12.17.13 WorldExplorer65 Isle of Wight, UK “Wonderful Stay” We stayed here for 6 nights and had a great stay. The hotel is in a good location and we drove to Gustavia every evening for drinks before dinner at one of the many superb restaurants. The hotel is spotless and ALL the staff are friendly and welcoming. We will be back & fully recommend it for a value-for-money hotel in a wonderful location on a beautiful Island.
11.22.13 MissyandPat Pekin, Illinois “Beautiful people, beautiful B&B, beautiful Island.” We will be back again next year. ” Wendy, you have a beautiful place there and all I can say is we've been back for a week now and we are still talking about it. Everything you need is right there and Lorient Beach is now our favorite beach. Nothing but relaxation. Make sure you read Dennis' book on restaurants, fascinating read about the beautiful little French Island. Thanks to Eula, Christine and Wendy (who never stops working). Oh ya, never forget about the 5:00 pm wine, it's interesting to see where everyone is from and the wine was great. I miss it every day!
11.04.13 Kemper02459 Boston, MA “Wonderful Hospitality and Excellent Value” Hotel Normandie is a small, quaint, and charming property with on-site staff, clean, up to date rooms, wonderful lounge and pool, and in close proximity to L'Orient Beach as well as grocers and bakeries.
08.18.13 ESBK2013 Stockholm, Sweden “Great stay!” Our stay in April 2013 at the Normandie Hotel could not have been better. What lifts this hotel in our memories was the great staff and especially the wonderful Manager Eula. If I ever opened a Hotel, she would be my first choice as a manager. Great location if you want to drive to the best beaches. The pool area is perfect if you want a quick dip. Nice French breakfast. Rooms are petite and well cleaned every day. Will return next year. A tip: follow Eula's suggests for lunch.
08.11.13 Louaero Montreal, Canada “Fantastic little Gem!!!!” I stayed for 14 nights and…wish I could have stayed longer!!! Everything I read prior to going to the Normandie was exactly what it was when I arrived. Beautiful hotel, modern, clean. The staff Silvia and Jomanie were fantastic!!! Breakfast was great as well as the wine in the evenings. There is a little refrigerator in the room so you can store some water or food. Plenty of hot water when taking a shower. The small pool was great after a long day on the beach!!! Nice to finish the day. The hotel is quiet and located in a quiet area. Very relaxing!!!…You can walk to Lorient beach…up the street. There is JoJo burger, a little grocery store, and the bakery which are 5 minute walk. I would recommend this hotel. I absolutely loved it and will return. Thank you…for a fantastic vacation!!! Room Tip: The rooms past the pool.
07.22.13 Jason_w190807 Bideford, United Kingdom “Stayed for a week, wanted to stay forever!” Booked here for a last minute getaway with a friend and had the holiday of a lifetime. The hotel is small but tranquil and relaxed, with a seaside feel and set in beautiful surroundings. Very clean throughout to match its contemporary design. Eula and her team could not do enough for us, nothing was too much trouble. Also Eula knowing 3 different languages would make any guest feel at home. I cannot praise this place any more. We are already planning our next stay at the Normandie Hotel. The Island is beautiful, the locals are fantastic and the scenery is top class Caribbean. Go on book it, you will not be disappointed.
06.16.13 Melissa V Glen Ridge, New Jersey “Perfect petite hotel” Lovely manager was helpful and great at her job. The hotel was well located near many of the greatest beaches on the island and shopping. You could walk to a mini-mart one block to obtain any needed items…wine, cheese, fruit etc… Room was very clean, bed was super comfortable, it was quiet and the breakfast was fresh and delicious. We found the hotel exactly as it was described. Only thing missing was an alarm clock. The price point was very good in low season and we would return in a heartbeat. Thanks for a wonderful time. Room Tip: Rooms away from front door in the back past the pool were very quiet.
06.06.13 BIZAS Athens, Greece “Excellent Small Hotel with Quality Everywhere” Normandie hotel is one of the best examples how a small property can have international standards. Tastefully built hotel, comfortable minimalistic modern rooms, and even a swimming pool. It is a good choice to the wildly expensive hotels of the island without concessions in comfort.
06.02.13 John G via mobile “Perfect Place to Stay for the Price and Hospitality” Our family could not have been happier than we were in our selection of the Normandie Hotel in St. Barth. The rooms were neat, clean and well air conditioned, but that was not the best of it. Eula, the manager, made us feel right at home and offered a friendly breakfast each morning and glass of wine or beer each evening in the reception area that had comfy leather chairs.Eula and the staff were attentive and able to answer our questions, make recommendations and share a few laughs. This was our launch point for meeting others, walking to the beach or off to other parts of this beautiful island. You can't go wrong by choosing the Normandie Hotel.
05.23.13 ron_leslie Georgetown, Texas “A lovely boutique hotel in St. Barts” The Normandie is a perfect place for a quiet getaway on the beautiful island of St. Barts, a short hop from nearby St. Martin. The style and decorative theme of the hotel are influenced by the famous classic cruise ship the Normandie, and even the layout of the hotel is reminiscent of a large ocean liner. For a very reasonably priced hotel in a great location on this island of premium prices, this is a most comfortable place to spend some time exploring the fabulous beaches and scenery and indulge in some high-end exclusive shopping in the nearby main town of Gustavia. Eula, the manager of the Normandie, is incredibly friendly and helpful and will ensure that your stay is as delightful as possible.
05.12.13 Titoc, Puerto Rico “A wonderful place, good vibes, price and Eula to make it perfect.” Normandie is probably the best hidden secret in St. Barts. A block from Lorient beach, near supermarket and the best bakery in town, it is a place to relax and enjoy a few days in paradise. Best of all, the manager, Eula, is a Spanish national treasure living in St. Barts! She is friendly, funny and there to serve in any way one can imagine! I shall be back for sure.
04.10.13 Sitogod “Great little place in paradise” I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who doesn't require a large resort, the fanciest accommodations or room service. It's a quaint little boutique style hotel - managed by people who really care about their guests. The location is perfect and the breakfast is great, too.We had a really wonderful vacation. The staff was very kind and helpful. I would definitely stay there again.
04/04/13 Meredith G Boston, MA “Awesome”
I stayed here for the 1st time in January and … I couldn't have been happier. The service and the hotel itself is great. Eula and Patrice work as a team and are always there to help with any suggestions or questions. I've stayed in St Bart's many times either renting a villa or staying in a 5 star hotel but I've found my new place.
02/27/13 Gretchen975 Pittsburgh,PA
“Wonderful hotel!” We spent a week at the Normandie Hotel and enjoyed it very much. The three women in charge were patient and helpful. The hotel is intimate enough that guests have the opportunity to get to know each other. The breakfast was delicious, and the 5:00 P.M. wine was low-key and friendly. The pool area is beautiful; it affords not only plenty of sun but shade for those who wish it. The rooms are small but clean and comfortable. A delightful week, and one we hope can be repeated in the future. G. & R. Langevin
02/17/13 Bethwoff “Great value, lovely visit” We've taken many trips to St Barths, always staying in villas. We decided to take a week long trip in the middle of high season, and the Normandie, a charming B&B, was the perfect solution. Extremely economical compared to larger resorts on the island, it offers a delightful, quiet bedroom with wonderful linens and pillows (we've never slept so well!), modern bath, wonderful classic French breakfast, glass of wine in the evenings, and a serene walled in garden/deck with plunge pool for sunning or dining poolside. The proximity to our favorite beach, L'Orient, was great! The staff are all friendly, energetic, and delightful. The other guests all shared a nice sense of courtesy, and friendliness, that made each day a pleasure. We were just delighted with our stay, which far exceeded all expectations, and will return!…
02/08/13 Kate C New York, NY “100% charm” Normandie is adorable! From the first moment when you wake up to an authentic French breakfast of croissants and tea by the poolside to the moment you walk back from the beach and a lovely glass of wine awaits.Eula was so helpful and we are so thankful to her for her hospitality! Even when she was sick, she still insisted on coming out of her office to wish us farewell! 100% charm and 100% recommendation.
02/01/13 Cat_and_Bear in Paris “Paris in Paradise” St Barth is a wonderful and luxurious French enclave in the Caribbean and the Normandie provides great and very affordable acomodation. Clean, simple, spacious rooms, good location, very nice service, the best value for money to be found there. The little court with a pool, palm trees and a view of the mountain is one of the nicest breakfast places, serene and tranquil. Enjoy the cafe & croissant served by Eula or her friendly staff. A place to come back to, rent a car and enjoy days on the beaches (with) the Normandie as a home base.
11/14/12 Tific New York, NY “FANTASTIC” This hotel is awesome. The staff are friendly and attentive, ensuring you have a wonderful relaxing time. The rooms were spotless. The location is perfect, just minutes away from the beach and shopping, which was great. Thank you sooo much Wendy and Eula for making my visit one of the best vacations I have ever had. I WILL be back.
11/02/12 Cheryl M Windermere, FL “Best kept secret in St Barts!” We usually like to stay in villas when coming to St. Barts, but…for a short stay, Normandie is the way to go! Our key was on the counter upon our arrival, as we were a bit early, so we were able to change into our swimsuits and walk to L'orient beach for immediate R & R after a long day of travel. On returning…we enjoyed a 5:00 happy hour where we met the other hotel guests and chatted with the lovely Eula, our concierge and hotel manager. Every am, the freshest croissants, breads, jams and juices are served with steaming coffee. Clean, quiet and affordable. Highly recommended! Great location, too!
09.04.12 apl1881 Saint Paul, MN “Love, love, loved it!” Our week-long stay at the Normandie was fabulous! Everyone on staff is charming, friendly, kind and helpful. The hotel is very clean and comfortable. The continental breakfast, which we chose to eat poolside, is delicious and beautifully served. A true Caribbean gem! We would definitely stay there again. The hotel has a relationship with Welcome Car Rental, which was terrific. Welcome will pick you up at the airport (or ferry) and bring you to the hotel where your rental car will be waiting. They will pick you up at the end of your stay and take you to your point of departure. What a wonderful service! The little Hyundai was perfect for tootling around the island. Room Tip: The hotel has 3 rooms in the main building and 5 rooms in a second building behind the pool deck. Our room was in the back. It was small but large enough for my teenage daughter & me.
07/23/12 Mike Z Philadelphia, PA “Best value on St. Barths” The Normandie is a fantastic and affordable hotel in St. Barths. My girlfriend and I stayed there for a week and couldn't have been happier. Sylvia and Eula were friendly and very helpful with recommendations. We were lucky enough to also meet the owner, who couldn't have been nicer. The Normandie provides a complimentary small breakfast and wine or beer around 5 pm. This is an excellent time to relax and meet the other guests. The location ([near] Lorient beach) is convenient as well. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking to make their trip to St. Baths special. Simply put, because of the staff of the Normandie, I can say when (not if) we return to St. Barths we will not consider staying anywhere else. Mike & Danielle
07/22/12 kathie f Boston, MA “Unique boutique hotel on St Barths” It doesn't get better than this. A true gem. From the warmth and helpful Silvia (receptionist) to the talented and generous designer/owner Wendy, our two nite stay in this stunning, clean and affordable mini hotel exceeded our expectations. Great location -walking distance to (beach/market/bakery) …Loved the lap pool, decor, concept…we found paradise. Thank you NORMANDIE. We will be back…asap. k & b
06/04/12 Naturdoc Vancouver, Canada “2 thumbs up for the Normandie Hotel!!” Just returned from a 2 night stay at St Barths. For those who'd like to experience this stunning island without spending excessively on hotel stays, you can't get better than this wonderfully quaint B&B (…for those who would prefer an all-inclusive resort style accommodation, this is probably not for you…). The staff are professional, warm and welcoming. Eula the manager and Sylvia are incredibly charming and helpful (tu me masques déjà…merci pour tout!); I would definitely take them up on their offer to arrange a rental car through their contact - a car on the island is a must! The room is clean and well-appointed; the very French breakfast of croissant, hot coffee and juice is included - all freshly baked (coffee is fantastic!). The hotel itself is literally a 5 minute drive to Saline Beach, and a 5 minute walk to Lorient Beach. I especially appreciated the pool area which was quiet and refreshing. I would definitely recommend this establishment to friends and family. Room Tip: I would recommend a room away from the entrance door…
04/27/12 Ellen T NYC “Great B&B, friendly staff, prime location” We had a great time staying here for our first trip to St. Barthes. The location is great (center of island) and easy to find from the airport. The staff was so kind and hospitable and made us feel like it was home. The rooms were well kept and recently modernized. Each room had a TV, mini-fridge, and adaptors for your chargers /appliances. They provided fresh beach towels…as well as some delicious cafe and croissants for breakfast. I would highly recommend this to anyone. It is an economic way to stay in ST. Barthes, but in a prime location, with a great feeling. Def would go back!
04/12/12 ladygaga71 New York “Wonderful. EULA AND DENNIS MAKE YOU FEEL WELCOME” “Normandie is a safe, lovely place to stay. Eula the manager was lovely, friendly and helpful. Dennis shared wonderful wine and conversation. We hope we can return next season. Room Tip: All rooms should be fine. We prefer to be in the front area of the hotel.
04/08/12 KellyPhoenix Phoenix, AZ “Wonderful small hotel” Although we arrived late…and the staff was gone for the day, it was easy to find our welcome envelope and key and let ourselves in. The room was very clean and we loved the brand new bathroom. The next morning, the staff was very friendly and welcoming and served a delicious breakfast to us poolside. We would definitely stay there again and hope to do so!
03/24/12 Aloha_Isles Chicago, IL “The perfect St. Barths hotel” The Normandie Hotel was exactly what we were looking for in a St. Barths hotel. The price was great, the hotel is very clean, the location is convenient to about everything (including a little grocery store). The owner /operator knows the island well and gave us great recommendations on what to see, where to go, where to eat, which beaches to visit, and so much more. We went to St. Barths to see the island - bars, beaches, restaurants, people, night life, the sites - so most of our days were spent 'out and about' instead of at the hotel. So if you're looking for a resort/hotel to just sit and read then this probably isn't what you're looking for. But if you want a great place to stay that is affordable, nice, and clean with a very pleasant staff, look no further. For us, it's not a question of if we would go back, but when.
03.07.12 sgf54 Atlanta, GA “The perfect inn in St. Barth's” We just spent a week at the Normandie and it was PERFECT. As wonderful as the inn itself is, Eula..made it even better. I felt like we were great friends by the time we left – so easy to talk to, friendly, funny, helpful, great recommendations on what to do and where to eat…The inn is beautiful – tastefully decorated with a simple nautical contemporary tone. The pool area is wonderful – the perfect place to have breakfast every day and just be lazy. The location is right in the middle of the island making it very easy to get to any of the beaches within minutes. It is also a quick walk to L'Orient beach, Jo Jo's, and some grocery stores. I would definitely stay here the next time we are in St. Barth's. There is absolutely no reason to stay anywhere else – the Normandie is an amazing value for this 'ritzy' island. Thank you…for making our stay so wonderful!!!
02.27.12 Kate D Chicago, IL “Beautiful, Affordable Inn on the Chic St. Barth's” We recently returned from our first trip to St. Barth's and the Hotel Normandie. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about both the hotel and the island…When we arrived, we were greeted by Eula the hotel director. She was very nice and welcoming after our day of travel… our rooms were small (average NYC hotel size) but very clean…with a (queen) bed, desk, and a good-sized closet. The bathroom had a Villeroy and Boch sink and new fixtures, including a shower…(with) a stone backsplash and a shower head from the ceiling, which was nice and got a lot of water pressure. The bathroom was filled with containers for storage…a great hair dryer…shampoo and conditioner and soap. They also had adaptors for US Plugs, which was great to charge my iPhone and iPad. The free Wi-Fi was also very nice as it is a good, strong signal and easy to access the internet. In the morning, we were greeted by Melane…(who was wonderful and friendly)…with coffee or tea (**She even went home and got us Decaf Tea from her house) and UNBELIEVABLE bread and croissants, jam, butter and orange juice. We sat poolside at the small, but lavish pool where we ate our breakfast under a sunny blue sky and 70 degree weather with absolutely no humidity… Overall, the hotel was very nice (with a) very European feel. The service was exceptional and the advice we got every day from Eula and Melane was great. The complimentary wine and breakfast…made a place like St. Barth's more affordable…I would highly recommend staying here. Tip: We stayed in Room #3 and really liked the location – close to the pool!
02.26.12 Ted K Wheaton, IL “A short stay in Heaven” My wife & I booked with the Normandie for just a week in February, everything was perfect. We were about 150 meters from a great beach with hardly anyone there. There was a little c-store even closer, along with a great French bakery. The rooms were adequate sized, but very nicely done. Eula (Mgr) and Melane were extremely friendly and helpful in restaurant selection & reservations…Our stay was as close to perfect as we could have imagined. It was a good value for a great vacation. They have a very relaxing pool & deck area, and are just far enough from the "busy" areas to make you think that you are on a remote island. Tip: Stay away from Gustavia Harbor area to avoid congestion, the rest of the island is very peaceful.
02.25.12 emchandler New York, NY “Fantastic Service!” We recently had a nice respite at the Normandie Hotel. And while the Hotel is modest by St. Barths standards, the service is tremendous. Eula and Melane went above and beyond to assure us and all the guests of a pleasant holiday. They served breakfast, greeted arriving guests and managed the office phones while also being concierge for securing lunch and dinner reservations! Most special.
02.25.12 fiona057 Australia “Perfect” We booked with Normandie for my 30th birthday and were lucky enough to find that although the hotel was fully booked, they were willing to rent us a bedroom in their private villa (Case-et-Cuisine in Marigot)…I felt the whole set up of how they run the business was fantastic, unlike many caribbean islands it was efficient organized and super friendly. We would love to return one day, and would recommend this hotel to anyone! What a great way to spend my 30th birthday!
02.06.12 timmiedean Toronto, Canada “Absolutely fabulous” Friends and I stayed at the Normandie for a few lovely nights in Jan.2012 and it truly is a warm and welcoming place…Melane and Eula were gracious hostesses who bring a joie de vivre to the whole place. They made my stay very fun and helped a lot with pointing out places to go and see, as well as doing… bookings…They serve a beautiful simple French breakfast of fresh breads, teas and coffee, and a lovely glass of wine each evening by the pool, which was a great way to meet some of the other guests. The rooms are very nice, modern and quiet with a small but well designed pool area. Close to L'orient beach, a short drive to Saline beach and close to many lovely restaurants. Easily accessible without being in the middle of town. I personally would love to stay there again, many times. Tip: They have a single room, which is very nice, so staying on your own is not a big deal.
02.04.12 kasugatan West Hartford, CT “Wonderful Experience!” We had a really lovely time staying at the Normandie Hotel. The complimentary wine and ice cold beer were a nice surprise when we checked in. Eula and Melane were gracious hosts who went above and beyond to accommodate us not only when it came to our stay at the hotel but our stay in St Barth as well. They were eager to guide us towards activities, quick to offer a map and dead on when it came to restaurant recommendations. It definitely set the mood for what was an amazingly wonderful experience.
12.06.11 andynap Media, Pa “Best owners on the island” Wendy and Dennis go out of their way to make all guests part of their family. The property is kept up to the highest standards and the prices are reasonable compared to other St. Bart hotels & inns. It is close to Lorient Beach--a nice family beach--and one of the best bakeries on the island.
12.03.11 Nrsantiago “Normandie St. Barts” We stayed at the Normandie for a weekend…a small boutique hotel…The rooms are clean, modern, comfortable bed and pillows. The managers Eula and Melane were very nice. At evening they offer you a complimentary glass of wine and also they (make) all the arrangements with Welcome rental car (which) receives you at the airport or ferry on your arrival, and leaves you at the airport (or ferry) on your departure, free of charge! The hotel has a small nice pool. The breakfast is included on your price. A basket of fresh bread and coffee. Excellent. The hotel location is fantastic…The price was wonderful compared to the other hotels on the island!!! If you want a nice small hotel…with good service, charm and without paying too much, this is the place.
11.28.11 abkrm Chicago, IL “Great deal” We stayed at the Normandie for over a week in February 2011 and loved it! Everyone was very nice and helpful. The rooms are on the smaller side but have everything you need; they are clean and functional. The location is great, right by the beach and walking distance to a pastry shop and some other restaurants. We are going back in a few months and can't wait!
08.29.11 Anya Canada “Best Value on the Island!” We stayed at this hotel for a week from July 29 to August 5 for our honeymoon. The place was very clean and modern. Great location! It is close to the beach, supermarket and a bakery. The managers, Eula and Melane, were wonderful! They made us feel like family and gave us tips on which restaurants and beaches to visit. We loved it there and would definitely stay there again and recommend it. Anya
07.30.11 JD_JD_CHI Chicago, IL “Lovely place to stay” We very much enjoyed our stay at the Normandie Hotel in Lorient. The hotel is very comfortable and the location is fantastic. This hotel provides a great base from which to explore and enjoy all that St Barth has to offer. The rooms are clean and comfortable (nice pillows, comfy bed) and the pool area provides a perfect place to cool down with a glass of wine after the days adventures. The staff is very friendly and accommodating and they have a lot of local knowledge of great places & things to see and do.
07.25.11 nolado Dallas, TX “Great stay in Lorient” We had the pleasure of staying here…(and) having travelled to the island for the past 21 years believe this is our favorite moderately priced hotel on island. Being greeted and pampered during our stay by Eula was a true highlight of our vacation. The facility gleamed and rooms were European in size while boasting lovely finishes and amenities found in top end hotels. We always return to St Barth, and will return to Normandie as well!
07.22.11 pearl047 Charlotte, NC “Wedding Crasher”
I'm recommending this great value for your money. The Normandie Hotel is 5 stars in my opinion. Eula, Mgr. couldn't do enough to meet ALL my needs. Room was clean & neat, pool just outside my room, continental breakfast to boot. Walking distance to beach, restaurants, food mart. Rental car delivered to the hotel with complimentary trip back to the airport. Couldn't ask for more.
07.03.11 emersonsi Staten Island, NY “Paradise on Earth for us, Our Honeymoon Spot” Long overdue… rave review from Tim and Ken in NYC, We've been coming to St Barth for 10 yrs, were looking for a perfect spot to replace the St Barth Beach Hotel…Normandie was all we hoped for and more, owner Wendy embraced us like family, her staff of Eula and Melane made us feel like we could stay with them forever…intimate, elegant, affordable, located in the charming lovely little town of L'Orient…I feel like we discovered the place in St Barth that we can now return to, again and again, and call it home. The Normandie. Magnifique…
06.28.11 julieta_patton Miami, FL “Wedding in St. Barth's” My name is Julieta Williams and we are Brazilians residing in Miami, FL My family and I wish to thank you so much for the wonderful and friendly hospitality from Eula and Melane, during our 5-day stay at your lovely Normandie! From the moment we arrived…to the last goodbye…we were treated as family by these two wonderful ladies! We loved everything about St. Bart's…The way you made us all feel at the Normandie made our visit…all that more especial! Thank you, Eula and Melane, for making us feel so welcome, and for your impeccable housekeeping with lots of savoir faire in this lovely B & B, making it a great little hideaway in this beautiful island…
06.24.11 sengkenken Chicago, IL “Perfect for us!” I usually won't bother to write any review about anything. But this time, I would like to recommend this great value accommodation for the budget travelers out there…The property itself is relatively small with total of 8 rooms with tiny pool but decent room size and very clean! Free wifi, free breakfast (itÕs continental but very good pastries). Location is not bad (Lorient). We have a rental car, and the island is small so no problem there. We met the owner (Wendy) and the property Manager (Eula). They are both super nice and very helpful… We definitively will stay here again. Very good value for the money. So if you are a budget traveler that wants to save money, don't care about ocean front property or 5 star restaurant on the premise and only need a place to sleep comfortably, look no further. This is it. Max
04.13.11 lpugdeeeqazzzxvbbbbmmlkkii88z Ct “The high ratings for this hotel are richly deserved.” While the rooms are small and the hotel is not on a beach…staying here is most enjoyable due to the great service and the sparkling clean rooms. The two women who run the place Eula and Melane, are an outstanding team and are passionate about assuring that everyone has a good time and that their needs are met..And the arrangement they have with Welcome Car Rental adds to the overall service experience. We were greeted at the airport by a Welcome agent, taken to the hotel, and our rental car was parked outside…and there were no extra charges or fees like you get from most of the big chains. We stayed 10 days, met with either Eula or Melane each morning to get suggestions for beaches and restaurants to visit, which was a lot better than the stuffy concierge service you get at a big hotel. And when we left, the car rental agent picked us up at the hotel and delivered us right to the gate of our flight, absolutely no hassle.
03.22.11 maryelizabeth969 Dallas, TX “Stop searching for your hotel now.. let your dream vacation begin” Oh my…what a fabulous secret on St. Barths. I searched and searched for a safe, clean, special place to stay. I was thrilled and excited when I checked into Normandie. I just loved the room, the pool, the shower, the ambiance of the property. The staff was wonderful and had great suggestions for places to dine and places to visit. Look no further, seriously. Fabulous price for what you are getting. I will be back and will stay here no doubt.
03.06.11 11090 New York, NY “A Gem!” The [Normandie] hotel is perfectly situated within walking distance of beach, restaurants, supermarket, bakery. If you choose to rent a car, the hotel will arrange it with Welcome car rental which has reasonable rates and flexible pick up/drop off. They will even deliver the car to the hotel and bring you to the airport on your departure. The staff is genuinely welcoming and available, without being intrusive. The rooms are impeccable and comfortable with small fridge, television, phone and wifi…comfortable for singles, as well as couples. I cannot say enough about this delightful hotel!
01.30.11 Beautylover28 Redlands, CA “Contemporary, Beautiful, Reasonably Priced” Normandie Hotel is perfectly located near beautiful Lorient Beach…Contemporary and beautiful…gracious staff who serve wine to greet you. Nestled in a lush area of foliage, so you feel secluded. We truly loved our time there and will go there again!
12.29.10 geauxtigers1977 Houston, TX “Amazing Service and Hotel” Wine greeted us upon our arrival and the hospitality just kept coming. Dennis was a gracious host throughout our stay and spent the evenings chatting with us about the rich history of the island…Melane made sure our immaculate rooms were in perfect order…Everyone associated with the hotel proved time and again that they genuinely cared about us…The hotel…is perfect for travelers…looking for relatively inexpensive accommodations on St. Barts. The entire hotel was very clean and the contemporary rooms are well designed and functional… conveniently located within walking distance of two grocery stores, an excellent bakery, several restaurants and Lorient beach…I have never received better service at another hotel, whether it be a Ritz Carlton [or] Four Seasons…
08.15.10 Travelsalot Kitchener, Canada “A perfect home away from home” …Wendy (the owner), Eula (the manager) and Melane made our stay really special. We felt like we were staying at someone's home rather than a hotel. They ensured that we had a wonderful holiday…We enjoyed the complimentary breakfast and the glass of wine before we left for the night. It's a little gem in St. Barths! We will definitely be returning!
08.12.10 Jetsetter_NYC2 “Amazing Hotel Ð Great Value” Our group of 6 girls stayed here for one night. The service was impeccable and Wendy…and Melane…were wonderful and helpful in every way possible. This boutique hotel/bed and breakfast is located…about a 5 minute drive to Saline Beach. There are grocery stores and a bakery within walking distance from Normandie. A breakfast consisting of a bread basket, coffee/tea, juices is also included in the incredibly affordable rate. If I return to St. Barts this will definitely be my hotel of choice! My group and I have nothing but good things to say about this hotel!
08.03.10 Southend Girl Boston, MA “Still amazing!” Stayed at the Normandie…last April and fell in love! Back again in July…and it's still like being in someone's home…with impeccable service. The Normandie is a cool, calm, collected oasis in a great location. It's on par with the "big" hotels yet offers a sense of personal attention that the others cannot…For value, service, comfort, and location, you cannot do better than Normandie.
05.14.10 Christine B. Chicago, IL “Still the Best Hotel on St. Barths!” We loved every moment we spent and the attention to detail and service is still on par with the best 5 stars hotels on the island. Eula, the hotel manager, made us feel right at home and was such a delight to talk with and even gave us new ideas for places to explore on the island. The Normandie pool is beautiful and the location in L'Orient is ideal: access to the beach is at the end of the street. We cannot wait to come back for another visit to the relaxing, chic Normandie!
04.20.10 Bartlettnorth New York, NY "A great reasonable option on St. Barth's” …It is not often…accommodations exceed one's expectations. I applaud you for…offering a value oriented hotel on the island…rental car was so easy…The pick up and return with the luggage was so useful and practical and made the trip to and from the airport so much more enjoyable. I have been coming to the island with my wife, kids, and friends for 10 years and this experience was one of our best in all respects.
04.19.10 Sharka New York, NY “Best Value on St Barth” This little charmer proves to be the best value on St Barth. A very short walk from Lorient Beach, extremely clean room (small but has everything you need - functional bathroom, fridge, safe, flatscreen TV, free local calls, internet) and well kept property. Great breakfast by the pool everyday…This is a "budget" place on St Barth where you still feel pampered.
01.23.10 Man of the World Ft. Lauderdale, FL “It's all true! Wonderful place!” The Normandie DESERVES the high ratings. A LOVELY place with wonderful staff and a truly ideal location…this really is a gem of a find in St. Barths…Highly recommended!
09.10.09 e12333 St. John “Hip hotel, perfect location--loved it!!” Ahhh – a really great hotel experience! I checked in a day early and the staff was so accommodating they 1) knew my name upon arrival 2) hustled to get my rental car delivered a day early. Quite impressed from the get-go. The hotel itself is small and unassuming but very modern and VERY clean, with a hip, friendly vibe. Lots of smiles! The rooms are small but there's no wasted space and you will not lack for any important amenity. The continental breakfast was something I looked forward to every day--a bread basket, different each morning, quality jams and butter, and very good coffee and juices. I always ate by the pool and developed a cordial relationship with the other guests. The sheets are crisp percale, the vanity items are of a high quality, towels clean and fluffy, huge showerhead, nice flat screen TV on the wall, near-silent AC and wifi in each room. The location is spot-on: mid-island and halfway between anywhere you'd want to be. 2 min. walking distance to a great beach, boulangerie, gas station, supermarkets and restaurants. The pool is small and zen-like…The rates are excellent. It truly was a close-to-perfect experience.
04.01.09 Southend Girl Boston, MA “Normandie is amazing” Staying in St. Barths? There's only one choice for those interested in warmth, ambiance, intimacy, and the true sense of relaxation that comes with the "real" St. Barths experience…and that's Normandie Hotel. The staff is superior, the guests are friendly, and the location cannot be beat. Breakfast of croissants, baguette, and coffee by the pool will begin your day in the best way possible.
02.09.09 paolo027 Bologna, Italy “Stay in paradise” We had very beautiful experience, they take care of us with nice suggestions regarding place where to eat, to spend the evening and beaches where to spend the day…the hotel is very simple but very pleasant, new, clean and comfortable, with a nice breakfast served… the location of the hotel is perfect…the staff is friendly…always smiling and helpful…
02.02.09 GlobalTravelingGnome Bermuda “An absolute Gem!” As a single traveler, I was looking for something that was affordable, but still chic and have all the comforts of home. I was so pleased when I checked in and saw that everything is as it is on the website. My room (aka the Captain's room) was simply charming and I loved the little porch attached to it. The complimentary glass of wine set my weekend off perfectly!…I would highly recommend a stay at the Hotel Normandie! Great location, a perfect home base for all your St. Barts explorations! Liked: Very welcoming…great price, it has it all! Disliked: nothing.
